Ipsy Subscription Box Review - April 2018

Social Butterfly - April Ipsy

This is a review of a cosmetic subscription box called Ipsy for only $10 a month. The retail value of my April bag is $57.96 not including the pretty cosmetic bag. It's quite a bargain! I received the following products:
  1. Royal & Langnickel - Moda Metallics Eye Shader, full size, $6.49 retail value
  2. Aurora - 24 Hour Lively Lip Stain in Soft Pink, made in Germany, .03 fl. oz. full size, $8.00 retail value
  3. Ouai - Finishing Crème, .5 fl. oz., $3.52 retail value
  4. Steve Laurant Beauty - Blush in I'm Blushing, made in China, .12 oz. full size, $22 retail value
  5. Trifle Cosmetics - Sugar Bunny Lip Scrub in Watermelon, formulated in Italy, packaging made in China, .34 fl. oz. full size, $17.95
I really like this month's cosmetic bag and it's on trend with rose gold accents, it's one of my favorites. I wish Sephora had bags as nice. Macy's does a good job with many pretty ones, except the last one which is similar to Sephora's awful sacks. I'm happy to receive another brush, it cuts down on the number of times I have to wash my brushes. Having lots of eyeshadow brushes really helps since I use several different colors and change it up a lot. It's quality matches it's price tag. The lip stain is definitely not "soft pink". It's a matte dark purply plum! Geez, how can they get the name so far off, crazy. I would wear it in the fall or winter, it's just too dark for spring and summer. It's goes on quite wet, but it dries quickly. It's like using a magic marker on your lips, which feels quite odd. It's not one you would apply in a rush, you have to be very careful to stay within the lines especially since it's long lasting and a stain. It does have lasting power, but it's a bit dry. It will also highlight any dryness on your lips, so it's a good thing they sent me a lip scrub this month. I've received several Ouai products in subscription boxes over the years. While it's a higher end brand, I don't fancy it. I haven't found their products to be anything special or better than less expense brands. Their plain black and white packaging reminds me of cheap generic products. I wont be trying the Steve Laurant blush since it's made in China. It looks like a pretty color, but it's probably too dark for my extremely fair skin tone. I'm really shocked by it's $22 price tag though it does include a mirror. Trifle Cosmetics has cute packaging with little bunnies on it. This is the first time I've heard of a lip scrub with the watermelon scent. It's usually a vanilla or cake scent, so that's unique. I'm pretty shocked by it's $17.95 price tag since they sent me their full sized tube which is quite small. I'd never spend that much on a lip scrub.

My favorite product this month isn't a product, it's the cosmetic bag followed by the brush. My least favorite product is the blush. If you subscribe, what was your favorite product this month? If you aren't a subscriber, what are your reasons for not subscribing? I paused my account until August, I need a break from Ipsy. I haven't been excited enough about the products they have been sending. Click here to pause your account. It's a bit tricky trying to find where on the website you can pause your account!
